HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Authorities from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a man who robbed a tire store in northern Harris County on Tuesday.

It happened on Easthampton Drive near the Eastex Freeway shortly before 2:30 p.m.

Owner Mike Hastings told KPRC 2 he was working on a vehicle with one of his employees when the suspect, who he said was acting as a customer, entered the office where his wife and brother were working .

Without any warning, Hastings said he witnessed his brother being whipped over the head by the suspect, breaking his finger in the process without being given the opportunity to defend himself. He also saw his wife thrown to the ground after trying to run away.

Hastings said several items were allegedly stolen by the suspect, including keys and personal items such as wallets.

“Sometimes as a family we have to cut our losses and suck the pain away,” he said.

The brother and wife had to be taken to the emergency room to be treated for minor injuries. Hastings said his wife was too scared to return to the store.

Hastings said his business had security cameras, but he didn’t think that was enough to deter the thief.

Deputies said the man was wearing a black bucket hat, a black hoodie with the word “Champion” displayed on the front, red and black shorts and black Croc slippers. Hastings said surveillance video showed the suspect taking off in a vehicle with two other suspects inside. The vehicle apparently had no license plate.

“There’s not enough out there to stop it. Not enough to catch it,” he said. “The more people show up and provide information, if you see something, say something. You don’t have to intervene. You don’t have to put yourself in danger. »

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
