Surveillance video: Several Southland camera shops robbed by same thieves, taking protective measures

In a recent incident, surveillance video from Mac Star Cameras & Electronics in Corona shows one of the suspects entering, grabbing a few cameras and running away.
The same suspects allegedly robbed the store’s other location in Anaheim.
When the suspects arrived at the Corona site on Saturday, employees recognized them and did not take any cameras out of their boxes to show them. The suspects left.
“One of them came back, fully covered in a mask and hoodie, then pulled a few items off the shelf,” said Melissa Delgado, who manages Mac Star Cameras & Electronics.
Delgado said other camera store managers in Inland Empire, Orange and Los Angeles counties sent emails to each other warning them that these suspects are stealing from camera stores.
Corona police and other departments are investigating.
Like other electronics, there is a shortage of inventory.
The thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Camera store managers remember to share footage of thieves and be more aware of who enters and exits their stores.
“He came in and took a few items worth about $500,” Delgado said. “In our other store, they took two cameras that were worth about $3,000.”
Delgado said they weren’t violent and seemed to know what they were doing.
Meanwhile, a Pasadena camera store was similarly hit and an employee was injured.
Information shared by camera stores includes how to protect their inventory. They will store the high-end gear in a secure location and only display the boxes.
If the thieves return, they will only get an empty box.
Anyone with information about any of these incidents is urged to contact the authorities.
