Sandy Fire Captain arrested, filmed teen girls with hidden camera, child sex abuse material
SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) – A Sandy Fire Captain has been arrested and removed from duty after allegedly recording teenage girls and distributing child sexual abuse material.
Officials identified the suspect as Clinton McKee, 45, of Salt Lake County.
Authorities first received a cyber warning in January 2022 about the uploading and distribution of child sexual abuse material from an account traced back to McKee.
This information was passed to the Utah Attorney General’s Office and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) program.
On March 10, the ICAC task force searched McKee’s residence with a warrant.
When authorities questioned McKee, he admitted to viewing and distributing the infringing material to other users. He also admitted to using search terms containing the words “adolescent” and “voyeur” when searching for child pornography material.
Authorities found that McKee also hid cameras in a professional home space where teenage girls stripped naked. McKee said he kept these videos for his own enjoyment, stopping the document state.
The Sandy Police Department released an updated statement on Friday saying:
UPDATE: Sandy City Fire Department Capt. Clinton McKee is no longer employed by Sandy City.
Sandy City officials were deeply disturbed to learn that Sandy City Fire Department Captain Clinton McKee was the subject of a criminal investigation by the Utah Attorney General’s Office. Captain McKee was immediately placed on administrative leave pending an administrative investigation into the criminal conduct allegation.
Sandy City management and staff are committed to full transparency and will cooperate fully with the Attorney General’s office regarding their investigation.
McKee was jailed in Salt Lake County Jail on seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
