New angle: Andover tornado seen by a security camera

ANDOVER, Kan. (KSNW) – Two of Andover Town Hall security cameras captured the tornado that hit the city Friday night. On Wednesday, the City released video from cameras on the east side of the building and the west side.
Security camera on the east side of City Hall shows how close the tornado came to hitting the building. You can see the tornado enter the right side of the screen around the five second mark.
Around 3:40 a.m. in the video, the tornado begins to pick up more debris and grows larger and darker.
Around 4:25 a.m., he reached what appeared to be the City Hall parking lot. You can see trees being sucked out of the ground before the tornado moved out of the camera’s field of view.
The west camera shows the start of the tornado. The video lasts about 11 minutes. The tornado forms around the 35 second mark and touches down around the 1:18 mark.

Around 7:30 a.m. in the video, the tornado gets darker as it begins to strike more property and throw up debris.
There were no fatalities from the storm. In an update Wednesday, officials said there were only three tornado-related injuries in Butler and Sedgwick counties. Only one of the injuries was serious.
