LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Lexington police are investigating a possible hate crime after a pride flag was burned outside a couple’s home.
James Grant Wilson said he and his partner returned late Sunday night. They didn’t notice that their Progress Pride Flag on their front porch had been completely burned.
“He came out and said, ‘Did you see where the pride flag was burned? “Wilson said.
Zach Skaggs and Wilson said they were shocked by what they saw.

CCTV catches people setting Pride flag on fire
“There were two of them. They were both lighting them up at the same time. At least one held a camera at the same time, recording it. It kind of burned up until there was nothing left said Wilson.
The couple said the flag meant a lot to them.
“It really means being more inclusive and opening up,” Skaggs said.
The flag was burned to shreds. Wilson said he was glad he had brick and not siding or the house would have caught fire.
Since then, Wilson said he replaced the flag as a sign of resistance.
“I was like, what if this one just burns as we drive around the corner?” Skaggs said.
Skaggs said he was more scared. However, while the couple were busy policing and cleaning up, they were surprised again, but this time with an act of kindness.
There were chalk drawings decorated on their sidewalk as a sign of support.
“I walked out and almost started crying,” Skaggs said.
Several rainbows in the middle of their storm.
“Things like this always happen, and this time it happened right in your own backyard,” Wilson said.
Lexington Police tell us the investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been named so far.
